Heartfelt Thanks

Today I worked a LONG time on the February edition layout of a monthly newsletter my team puts together. Every month, I design a couple 1 or 2 page newsletters, but I haven't worked on the design for the larger (7 pages) one in a long time. It has a Valentine theme so I've been in a lovely mood which inspired this creation that I call "heartfelt thanks". Enjoy!

Light

I snapped this photo while browsing around a boutique in Dallas this past weekend. There’s something about a big, brass bowl full of oversized light bulbs that just seems to grab your attention.

McKinney Avenue Trolley

We had a great time in Dallas this past weekend. We visited our good friends, Keith and Carrie, and some of SD's family. These pics are from our ride on the McKinney Avenue Trolley. We took the Dart (a train) from Plano into downtown and then rode this trolley out to the West End (a posh shopping district). We walked around and looked at all the shops and buildings, we found a neat little sports bar and had yummy burgers for lunch!

Girl's Night In

Sounds like a digiscrap kit, doesn't it? Maybe I'll make one! Anyway - I was browsing through my pics and found this one of Gris and I at Ashley's for a girl's night of movies. One movie they rented (and I refused to watch) was SAW II, so I put a pic of Ashley on the cover. Don’t need to look at that gruesome thing!
I’m headed out of town tomorrow and I won’t be back until Tuesday. Have a good weekend!

Butterflies in Color

The weather outside is awful. It's cold and there has been a thick fog in the air ALL day long. I'm wishing for some lovely sunshine and so I created this picture to brighten the day!

My New "Do"

Yesterday was a holiday so I decided to make good use of the day off from work and get a new hair style. I told the stylist that I wanted something very dramatic. We went about 2 shades darker than my normal color and then added big, CHUNKY, platinum highlights in the front and smaller ones in the back. I am loving this new look. It’s so much fun!
(BTW, I took the pics w/ my cell phone camera so they're not the best quality.)

Princess Slider

I made this slider as part of my Lavender Princess Kit. I love this saying because it reminds me that life is NOT a fairy tale! ;o) Have a good weekend.

Little Bird Charm

I'm really enjoying this digiscrap kit I started recently. Here's another little piece from it - a tiny red bird inside a silver charm.

It's cold in Texas today and I'm off to brave the chilly winds so I can pick my cousin up from the airport. Have good one!

I'm working on another digiscrap kit with a nature theme. (This one has no name yet.) I drew this birdie today to use on some of the papers and elements. I think he's sweet.

Plastic, Multi-colored Flowers

I've been practicing drawing flowers today. I liked how this flower turned out so, I turned it into a brush and made this pattern, added some colors and special effects and - tada - platic, multi-colored flowers on a green splashed background. Too much fun!

Happy Smurf Day!

I read online that the smurf's are celebrating their 50th birthday this month. I used to LOVE these little guys, so I thought I would wish them a Happy 50th Smurf Day with this little card I drew.

Plaid Flower

So I was playing around in PS today – trying to figure out how to draw a plaid background. I was following a tutorial online, but they were using a different version of PS so it wasn’t working very well. Lucky me, I figured it out and ended up with this design. ;o)

Girlfriends make life special!

I was looking through some photos from the night of my bachelorette party and I felt so happy. I rememberd how much fun my friends and I had and how blessed I felt the whole evening that all these wonderful women were there to celebrate with me. So I decided to create this LO for my girlfriends!

Saving a Memory

Most people who know me well, know that I love taking pictures - I even love being in them. Any excuse I can find to snap a photo, I will take it. I can’t help myself - I loving having that little point in time saved forever on my SD card. And that is why I have a photo of myself “hamming it up” with this golden pig! Why else would a perfectly normal person have a picture of themselves with something like this? We were in Seattle and the city was preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Pike Place Market with a bunch of elaborately decorated pig statues and I just had to have my picture taken with a pig.

My hubby snapped this photo of me (my hands) while I pulled the string on this party popper. Of course the confetti comes out pretty fast, so I had to add those in with Photoshop brushes!
We spent New Year’s Eve at a party at our friend Tiffany and Paul’s house in Kyle. Even though we’ve lived in SA for 5.5 years, most of our really good friends are still in the Austin area. Guess that means we’ll have to move back home one day! ;o)

DJ Bola D

This design was inspired by these cool DJ brushes I found online - and since my brother-in-law is a DJ, he was the perfect subject! There's a lot of fading and texture here - it took some time to put together but I figured my first post of the new year should be a good one! Of course, I didn't have any good photos of him in action, so I had use what I had with me....Maybe I'll take some at the next party.
