Happy Birthday Sister! I love you.

looks a little strange but....

I've been playing with some new brushes I made for the next digiscrap kit I'm working on. The kit has a princess theme. Sorry I've been away for the holidays so I haven't posted much lately but I'll be back on schedule in '08.

Christmas Tree Topiary

I designed this topiary with pictures of my sister and her family. I made the ornaments to use as gift tags on the presents I sent them – since my youngest nephew is too young to read, I thought he would enjoy the gift tags. The tags turned out so cute that I had to find a way to use them in a design.

Call Center Emoticon

We needed an emoticon of a call center employee for a project at work...so I drew this little guy. It's he cute?

Rocky

Here's a photo I took this past weekend of my friend Teri's horse. I decorated with a few elements from my next digiscrap kit. I'm still working on the papers, but most of the elements are complete. Once I have a few kits put together, I'll work on getting a site set up to distribute them.

On the train at MOA's Park After Dark

I tried to get some cool shots of Lynn & the boys on this train ride - but this was the trip when my camera died so I didn't have much luck. Intead, I took this shot of the train in motion and added Lynn & the boys from another picture where they were sitting still. It's not exactly "realistic", but it does look neat!

Hemisfair Park

This photo was shot in color but I wanted to make it more dramatic. First I brightened up the letters because they’re really white and get lost in the bright picture - but it just didn’t pop enough so I turned them yellow. I liked that look and I decided to make each light bulb yellow, instead of white. The effect was awesome, but still not very exciting. So, I turned the photo B&W but left the bright yellow additions and added a little bit of glow. Now that’s dramatic!

mommy-to-be

I went to a baby shower for one of SD's cousins a couple of weekends ago and took this picture of mommy and baby. I've seen several pics like this of mommies-to-be and I think they're so sweet.

Doodling

Here's a little doodle I worked on today while practicing. I think I might have the beginnings of another digiscrap kit here....we'll see.

Sneak Preview

As I mentioned before, I am discovering the world of digiscrapping. I've been scrapbooking the traditional way for over 10 years and I don't think I will ever give it up b/c there's nothing like the fun of getting your hands dirty with all the glue, punches, scissors, stickers, papers, etc... That said, I think I am going to be just as passionate about digiscrapping because the only limit is my imagination! Here's a page I created out of my first kit. I'm still working on some of the embellishments, but all the papers are finished. I call it Fuzzy Slippers! Enjoy.

Fantasy Fun

I took a picture of the Delgado kiddos sitting on a statue at the zoo. I cut out the statue and background and created this fantasy setting. Pretty neat, hugh?

11/27/07 - I forgot!

I finished this photo yesterday and completely forgot to post it! Oops.
This is SD's younget nephew, baby Mark, with his parents.
My mom gave me a plaque with this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt many years ago and it still means a lot to me.

Explosion

This explosion was drawn from scratch using various filters and color saturations in photoshop. Pretty neat hugh?

Happy Turkey Day!

Do you remember how exciting the holidays were when you were a kid? I used to love the art projects - remember making turkeys out of potatoes, toothpicks and gum drops? What about painting pinecones? Well, here's my PS version of a turkey made from a hand tracing, feathers and paint! Enjoy.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Remembering Dad

If you've visited my page on myspace, then you've seen this collage before. I was cleaning out my email account today (it fills up SO fast) and came across some old notes from my dad...it made me feel a little closer to him. I'm finally getting over my depression and I am able to think about him w/out crying. That is such a blessing because there are so many memories.

Feeling a little nostalgic today so I worked on a picture of Mom and I from one of my bridal showers. I'm off to a girls night in with some friends...have a great weekend!

Haunted Alamo

I took some pics of the Alamo recently and I’ve been trying to think of a really cool, different way to present them. Today I finally figured it out – Haunted Alamo! I cut out the background from this photo – painted the sky & clouds, changed the color hue & saturation and applied a couple filters until the Alamo looked spooky enough. Then I painted some dirt and other grungy texture on the building to make it look older, added the ghosts and then the lightening bolts. If you can’t see all the details, click on the picture to open a larger version.

Playing with Texture

I’ve been playing with texture lately so this weekend I took a lot of photos to see if I could create my own “grunge” affects in PS. I took pictures of cracked asphalt, dirty sidewalks, rocks, crumpled paper and even a big pile of dirt! I used the texture photos to create this design with pics from my trip to Seattle.

Learning to do photo "touchups"

I am learning so much about Photoshop - this software continues to amaze me. Look at this before and after photo! I made all these touchups with Photoshop. Now I know first hand why the people in magazines look so great. ;o)

Have a great weekend.

Trying out Digiscrap

A couple of my friends are into digiscraping and I’ve been reading a lot about it lately on their blogs. Today I completed a couple of tutorials online and downloaded some freebies (thanks to KB and HM) from “scrapyourartout.wordpress dotcom”. This is a great way to perfect my Photoshop skills! Here’s my first page. These photos are of a friend from work who shared her personal experience with United Way during our giving campaign. The photos really touched my heart!

Worn Photo

Here's another creation that came from a PS tutorial I did online. This started out as a black & white photo of a beautiful headstone. I changed the color, added some scratches to make it look old and then added the decorative swirls around the edges...pretty cool hugh?

Fall Back This Weekend

The longest weekend of the year is finally here and we get to sleep an hour later! In honor of the end of 2007 daylight saving time, here's a pretty fall design! Don't forget to set your clocks back 1 hour on Saturday night before you go to bed.
Have a good weekend.

Butterflies in a small red orb

Today's post is from a PS tutorial I did online. It's not a design of my own, but I am proud of it because it's neat looking. This is supposed to be an animated .gif file but I don't think the animation will work on this site. Oh well, it's still pretty. Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

We had a costume contest at work today and I designed the certificates. There were 3 prizes, "most likely to make small children cry", "most likely to cause a funny bone injury" and "most likely to have costume used in a movie". I think this certificate was the best of the three. (There were some great costumes as well.)

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!

Window

Can you believe these gorgeous old windows are on the outside of a department store? They use them to display trinkets, makeup, etc… I just had to take a picture and use it to display something beautiful!

Camera Blues!

So, as life generally goes...my camera went kaput while I was on VACATION and most of my photos were awful. The shutter started to go out on my 2nd day with my sister and her family. By the end of the trip, every picture I took had way too much contrast and all these white lines running through them. I was so disappointed. This photo could have been one of the best pics I’ve ever taken of my sister and her kiddos...but instead, it was a mess. I tried making it look better with a few photoshop tricks – here are the results. Not too bad hugh? It helps that I had beautiful scenery and picture perfect models!

Well, now it’s time to go camera shopping. I guess I can’t complain too much…a new toy is always fun! ;o)

Big Mouth!

May I present to you {Big Mouth} designed in honor of the poor guy at work opened his BIG mouth and said something very "un-team player like" at work today. I felt bad for him because you could tell he didn’t think before he spoke and I’m sure he was very embarrassed. So, this one is for him & anyone else who has ever said something and immediately wished they could take it back.

Have a great weekend!

Boo!

I got back from my trip to visit my sister and on my desk at work was a little bag of candy with this really cute poem. I have no idea who left it, but it’s such a fun idea that I decided to share it with you all. Here’s my design with the poem…feel free to copy and spread the fun!

New Truck!

My hubby got a new truck a couple of weeks ago & I made this collage for his computer background. It turned out pretty cool so I thought I would share. The cool skulls and swirls designs are something I found on line and couldn't wait to use. Since SD thinks skulls are tough, it worked out perfectly!

I'm going to visit my sister and her boys tomorrow so I probably won't post anything until I get back to town on Tuesday. Talk to you then.

Blog Action Day - the environment

Today we've been asked to support the environment in our blogs. Through art, poetry or by sharing our thoughts, bloggers from around the world joined forces to show our support for the earth. {I've included a nature picture.} I like this quote - my goal was to find a serene way to display it. I hope you enjoy.

First Post

This is my first blog...and just like the rest of my life, I don't have much time so I've got to hurry up! Here's a collage I made on a whim for a friend of mine (Griselda) who came to town this weekend. I haven't seen her since February so I was pretty stoked. Griselda, Wendy, SD and I had dinner and margaritas at my house. It was fun.
I started learning the Adobe creative suite for work...and now I'm hooked. I am actually thinking about going back to school to sharpen my skills. I'll keep posting my projects and you can tell me what you think.
Until next time!
